Can one truly become successful by mimicking the steps of another? Yes and No, to a certain point. It takes a renewed mindset, the ability to understand with wisdom and knowledge, and a heart for that you copy to have long lasting fruit and sustainability.

I was born around very successful people; therefore, it didn’t take me meeting success to find me. Because of the entrepreneurial spirit in the family, I had my first unofficial business in elementary school. Yes, I’d buy bags of candy from the corner store and sell it to my friends in school who didn’t have the privilege of walking to school, not having mom or dad hovering over them all the time and seeing early on that a .05$/.10$ piece of candy could easily gain .25$, .50$, and even a $1 in some cases. I even sold paper, school writing paper that is. But, though I had an inbred sense of creating and owning a business, I had no knowledge of savings, structure, the system of it all, and no understanding of projections. My only projection each day was how much I’d make and how much more candy I could buy with that I make, smile. I’d buy more and eat half if not more of that I’d earned. Though I had certain freedoms, I still needed supervision and direction, but it was a start.

I’d go on to have and grow more business in my youth. I’d grow in knowledge little by little, but the transformation wouldn’t come for years to come.

I was blessed to be around parents who owned property, a club, a community cook house, construction company, and one an parent an educator in the public school system, but truth is they didn’t teach me directly, I was learning on my own. This would cause a delayed growth. Though they were successful, I’d be introduced to another level of success down the road. I’d come to having a business for ten years and branching out, being afforded the opportunity to provide for my family. We lived good and traveled together. Living how we wanted, when we wanted.

Tragedy would strike and I’d almost loose it all when hit as a pedestrian by a vehicle. My positive outlook on life has sustained me. The press and fight in me is getting me farther than where I seem to have left off, thought the process is slow it’s for sure. I call it my fermenting season. Though I have much more climbing to do, I’ve learned some valuable lessons to carry me to my greater and these are just a few of the steps I share with you.

Before giving you 5 of my key steps for success, let me add a few of my nugget points:

Writing and journaling is very important. Why? To have a log or ledger to remember what didn’t’ work, so that you won’t repeat those same mistakes, yet you also have a log of what did work to continue. Connect with people who know more than you so that you can grow. It’s true what I’ve heard along the years, If, you’re the smartest one in your circle, you are in the wrong circle.

“Success is measured by what a man treasures in his heart to be successful. There is no wrong or right label for success. Just knowing that you’ve done your best and obtained the goal(s) in life, with peace, happiness, and joy, and you’ve accomplished it in your own heart is enough,” ~Shermanda Ramsay~

5 Habits of Successful People You Want to Adopt In 2018

(with my personal scripture reference) by Shermanda

1. Have A Target, Stay Focused, Stick to It

There are many things going on around you to attract your attention. Be intentional in opening to the things that will help assist you in achieving your goal(s). There is a reason the windshield is the largest view in a car. It’s the view for where you are going and every connection you have should be those that are

inspiring, training, encouraging, and driving you in forward movement to your greatest living.

There are times we must look back, but only to look over the things we don’t want to repeat that held us back. Just as the review mirror is the smallest view to see what is behind, so is the attention given to the past.

Be Present in the now, embrace it, and enjoy it. The past is gone, yet we can take from it and learn from it. We can’t change it; therefore, you can’t spend time in it. The Future will take care of itself depending what you do right now in your present place.

Let Love be your guide and with a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith there is no you will fail.

Scripture Reference: 1 Timothy 1:5

Phil 3:15 So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision – you’ll see it yet! 16 Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it. 17 Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. 18 There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I’m having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. 19 But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites. 20 But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ,

21 who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him. (The Message)

2. They Walk the Walk They Talk

We’ve all heard people talking about what they are going to do, but does their words add up to their actions at the end of the day. What’s better than talking about what you will do? The ability to see the manifestation of your talk is better than talk alone.

Silence is golden and writing your vision down putting your goals in action are the prescription of the day. Yes, it’s easy to talk about it, but what’s greater is the clear written plan to reach the goal of that dream. Your actions speak louder than your words any ways, right? Yes! Have you heard parents tell their children do as I say not as I do? Well, the child may listen for that moment, but the brain downloads the action in front of them and eventually they act out that displayed before them. We also hear people saying they are going to start a business, or I’m losing weight this year. I think we do that because of what we’ve seen throughout the years, but it’s kind of counterproductive. Just do the darn thing and watch the energy of success attract the blessings we only dreamed.

I remember reading that the announcement of a thing can be tricky, because it tricks the mind into thinking it’s already done. That makes sense, yet for some it pushes them to getting the job done because they’ve announced it, giving accountability to show up or be left feeling highly disappointed. We must find that happy medium and at days end, walk the walk we talk if we ever want to

be taken seriously and highly respected. This starts with honoring ourselves to believe in our dreams and accomplish that we purpose to accomplish for us and then the world benefits and can celebrate with us.

Scripture Reference:

Qualifications as Leaders in Our Field The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer[a] must be above reproach, the husband of one wife,[b] sober-minded, self- controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. 1 Timothy 3:1-7

3. They’re Circle Is A Winners Circle

Surround yourself with winners and with applied application of that you are learning and seeing, you too will become a winner. In order to go where you’ve never gone, you must attach yourself to those who have gone there and who are willing to share. Truth be told, to even be positioned in these circles, there is already a

winner in you that has allowed the connection. You must pray and be in position to see when this happens and be ready to take full advantage of the opportunity.

Just think about it. People who want to eat right, hang with people who have the same desire for healthy living to be successful. Same as with getting fit. You connect with other fit people. And so, it is with being a business owner or life coach, you draw to those who’ve owned businesses or those who’ve provided coaching services to enhance your craft/gift to do the same. Positive energy/mindsets attract and ignites a flame in those around it. Just as light overshadows the darkness, being in the presence of successful people, will draw you to success. This opens you to be accountable as the conversation around the table comes to you, you will always be ready to shine too. Here are 3 scripture references: Proverbs 12:26 The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.

4. They Are Optimist-See the Glass Half Full

These are people who genuinely love to see others do well. They are happy and celebrate the wins of others, while lifting and encourages them through the loses or what I can delays.

They let others know they support them and love is felt even in correction. Just because you are trying they rejoice with you. “Yes, you did it. You stepped out and believed in yourself. Though you are in that wheelchair, it’s beautiful to hear you say you are standing up tall inside yourself. Though it rained, and we’d planned a beautiful outdoor setup, it was even better to have an inside get together which made the setting more intimate and unifying.

There is no option but to have a good day. —Life happens for us not to us, it’s all in how we see it. A good life belongs to the one who sees a good life as the only way, even though where they stand right now may appear to be the worst, there is yet good found. They are not waiting for a better day, that may or may not ever come, they make the best of where they are right now, while pressing towards their chosen mark. Today is My Day as every day.

Scripture references:

This Is the Day That the Lord Has Made, I Will Rejoice and BE Glad In it…. Psalm 118:24

With God ALL Things Are Possible… Matthew 19:26

The Latter Shall Be Greater…. Haggai 2:9

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

5. They Hunger for Learning More & Growing

Learning is one of the most difficult things in the world. It’s not a surprise that many people never read a book, never finish school, or never learn from their mistakes. Learning is a struggle.

But think about it: We live in the most exciting time in history for learners. The access to information has never been this easy. In the past, if your dad was a farmer, you became a farmer. If your mother was a teacher, you became a teacher. Things were like that. Now, you can be anything you wish — you just have to have a mind to do it and take action to learn it.

Owning a business was inbred for me. It truly is like second nature and though this is the case, I still had and have much to learn to grow to be my very best in the field of entrepreneurialism. Technology is always change, meaning the game is always changing and to stay relevant in the game of life in any given field, you must be willing to adapt and stay abreast to the changes of the times. Hahaaaaa, when you’ve tasted success, there is a drive and hunger like non-other that keeps you going back for more. It’s why they kill animals who have tasted the blood of human. There is a mechanism within the brain that will drive them to want to taste that blood again. A successful person by nature will never be satisfied with mediocre living.

Scripture reference: Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.

These are only five of about 30 habits I have to share. To obtain the others and connect, submit your name and email here and I’ll be honored to connect and share the opportunities ahead to receive the other points for your success filled journey in 2018 and beyond.
